Tea & Empathy: A Wise Heart Community Space (In-Person, Portland, OR)

Is this you?

You would like to participate in a community space that has at its center the intention to maintain a quality of connecting and relating that naturally supports a sacred connection to life.

You are dedicated to learning, cultivating, and practicing the consciousness and skills that create healthy relationships and community.

You value meeting others with empathy and compassion and would like to spend time with others who can offer you empathy in a way those closest to you cannot.

What's it all about?

Tea and empathy is a community space devoted to connection and transformation. It will especially rely on the Wise Heart teachings of empathy and expansive consciousness.

Empathy is the second Relationship Competency in Mindful Compassionate Dialogue (MCD). Empathy means listening to someone’s experience with warm curiosity. It might be offered in silence, or with guesses about thoughts, feelings, and needs. Empathy is a form of attunement and acknowledgment of our shared humanity. It is a heart-based response to a heart-based expression.

At Tea and Empathy, we envision founding a community space to connect, practice, and support each other in living the change we long to see in the world.

We will begin with an opening circle and a few minutes of guided mindfulness meditation to become grounded in our intention and settle into the space together.

Then there will be an opportunity to choose to participate in one of the empathy practice exercises offered, or to pour a cup of tea and socialize at the tea table.

Near the end of the two hours we will come together for a closing circle of celebrations, feedback, and requests. We hope to co-create this space as a community and to see it evolve, respond to the needs present, and become a space we can rely on for on-going connection, support, and inspiration.

Please sign up and join for any or all of the dates listed.
