Is this you?

You value effective and compassionate communication. You want to cultivate mindfulness, and skills that help you create thriving relationships.

You’ve taken at least one workshop with Wise Heart, and have started to practice Mindful Compassionate Dialogue (MCD) in your own life. You know that these skills require consistent attention and support to integrate, and you’re looking for a structured practice opportunity.

You enjoy coming together in a community of practitioners with shared values to connect and enjoy mutual support.

What is it all about?

This is a new trial offering by Wise Heart’s MCD Companions. Join us bimonthly during March and April! This group is open to 3-10 participants per session. We will explore the possibility of continuing to offer these practice groups ongoing if there is significant community interest.

This structured 90-minute virtual practice group will focus on MCD Relationship Competency #3: Empathy. This is an opportunity to develop empathic skills which support deeper integration of MCD practices into daily life.

When you can give and receive empathy, each person has a deep sense of being heard. Knowing you can be heard allows defensiveness to relax and connection to become possible. Empathy contributes to healthy differentiation, as well as emotional security. With empathy, you can truly provide support for another without taking on their struggles as your own.

What to expect:

The session will open with a guided meditation, reading, or presentation given by the MCD Companions to center and ground the group. You will then engage in structured exercises in pairs, small groups, or within the whole group. Exercises will be demonstrated first, and there will be an opportunity for debrief and questions after each exercise.

*We suggest printing out and bringing the Feelings & Needs List, as well as the Empathy vs. Not Empathy Handout from Wise Heart’s Handouts webpage.
