 Video Conferencing or Self-Paced Courses

Want the feel of an in-person course, but aren’t local? Check out our Video Conferencing or Self-Paced courses. The Video Conference attendees participate over Zoom Video Conferencing system, where they are able to see and interact with LaShelle, as well as other participants. Self-Paced attendees watch the video recording of the Video Conference session (participant questions can be heard through audio, but only LaShelle is on the video recording). Both Video Conference and Self-Paced attendees have access to an online discussion forum where they can answer a weekly discussion prompt related to that week’s session. Both also have access to getting paired with an “Empathy Buddy.” This is a unique opportunity to interact with folks from all over the world!

Practicing With Anger - Eight Week Series Beginning October 4, 2019 (Video Conferencing Or Self-Paced)

Whether it is anger in yourself or anger in others, knowing how to meet anger opens the door to patience and confidence. Anger is a valid feeling that serves a purpose. It helps bring attention to what matters, however, it is not helpful for then deciding what to do. Join us and learn how to allow anger to serve its purpose and then shift out of anger to take wise and compassionate action.

This 28 week course is for couples who are committed to cultivating a conscious, thriving relationship. Each week, you are asked to set aside 60-90 minutes for simple, yet powerful, experiential learning exercises with your partner. Whether you have been together many years, or are just starting out, this course can help you master relationship competencies that will serve you for a lifetime. Sign up for each Part as you go, or save by signing up for the entire course.

Part 1: Communication Basics for Couples

This introductory 7-week course is for couples who value authenticity, connection, self-responsibility, and mindfulness. Whether you have been together many years or are just starting out, this course can enrich and support your relationship.

Part 2: Self Empathy and Reactivity for Couples

Part 2 of this course builds upon the basics you learned in the introduction to Mindful Compassionate Dialogue and helps you gain understanding and skill at the next level of complexity. Part 2 is for couples who are ready learn skills in self empathy, and how to recognize and manage reactivity both individually and together.

Part 3: Thriving Together for Couples

Part 3 of this course asks you to make use of the skills you learned in Parts 1 and 2 to enter into complex relationship dynamics regarding needs based negotiation, setting life serving boundaries, and building thriving and resiliency.

Part 4: Core Relationship Dynamics for Couples

Part 4 of this course addresses some of the most difficult and subtle aspects of relationship: relationship repair, emotional security, and healthy differentiation. You will be relieved to find these competencies broken down into specific and doable skills that you can practice and refine long term.

Practicing coming from a place of security and celebrating differentiation is already helping me in my relationship. I can see my reactivity and its causes more clearly, and feel more at choice in how I respond to the feelings that arise in me.

The videos and exercises stimulated some deep conversations that was definitely connecting and clarifying. We have greater understanding of each others values and ways of thinking as a result of the material presented.

Bringing Light to Shame - Eight Week Series (Pre-Recorded)

You know shame sometimes lurks around in the dark corners of your consciousness and you are ready to shine a light there. You recognize that shame can also happen in the smallest of moments. It might be a moment that you don't stand up for yourself or make your needs less important. You are ready to take a look at what triggers shame and connect to the vulnerable feelings and needs underneath. In this series you will learn to bring shame fully into the light of consciousness and build a compassionate and skillful relationship to it.

I took the Bringing Light to Shame class that started in September of 2015. My experience of shame has fundamentally changed as a result. It isn’t that I no longer experience shame, I do. It just doesn’t have the same hold on me. It comes and goes much more quickly, and more often I experience a sense of regret for my choices, actions or words. More often I’ll now feel badly about what I’ve done rather than who I am. The experience of regret is more manageable and productive for me being that it often leads to a strategy to change course.
